Since 2017, I've been responsible for the overall administration associated with Management and Supervisory Board meetings. Every meeting I attend presents a new challenge, and since joining in 2017, I've seen CityKids grow into a fully-fledged, professional organization, of which I'm proud to be a part.

I'm Marie-Lise van Veelen, a pediatric neurosurgeon at Erasmus MC Sophia Children's Hospital and the driving force behind the Children's Brain Center. I'm passionate about CityKids. It's a vibrant organization that continues to develop and strives to find the right program for every child. From my perspective, I understand the importance of this facility's existence within the care chain for these vulnerable children. As a member of the Supervisory Board, I oversee safety and quality policies.

CityKids has experienced significant growth in recent years. This is achieved by providing exceptional care and attention to the individual children and young people who need it, under expert guidance and with seemingly endless calm and patience. This is done to promote the child's development and thus support parents and caregivers. This is a remarkable achievement. I am eager to apply my experience in financial matters and sound business management to this effort, so that CityKids can continue its excellent work well into the future.

Children with chronic medical specialist care needs are particularly vulnerable, and the pressure on families is often high. CityKids is committed to providing excellent care for this group. I am delighted to contribute my experience as a healthcare executive to support CityKids in this endeavor.

I have been enjoying my retirement after a varied career as a psychiatrist, researcher, manager, program director, trainer, and scientific director. Following this rich career, I am now enthusiastically committed to meaningful work. As an ambassador for Challenge and Support , I support a multidisciplinary movement that helps healthcare professionals grow through recognition, appreciation, professional development, and knowledge sharing
